How about a breath of fresh air
for the road transportation sector ?
Through its digital solution allowing truck drivers and transport companies to be in touch with each other, designed to provide greater flexibility, this is what Truckrs, a young french start-up, is offering
Truckrs,
what about it ?
Truckrs, pronounced "Truckeurz", was launched in October 2022 with a clear objective: to "shake up" the road transport industry.
Pierre-Arnaud Destremau, co-founder of the start-up, recognises the urgent need to make the profession of road transport driver attractive again for current and future generations. This is a major challenge that must be met in order to stem the growing labour shortage in the sector.
Truckrs' guiding principle is to improve truck driver's quality of life. To do this, the start-up helps them to become more autonomous and free in their choices, as evidenced by their slogan: "Freedom is your driver".

A growing labour shortage
According to the IRU (International Road Transport Union), there is a shortage of nearly 60,000 drivers per year in France (and around 400,000 on a European scale).
Two main factors are blamed for this shortage: an insufficient number of new entrants to the profession in relation to annual retirements and a profession that is struggling to attract new generations. In addition to seeking an increase in their purchasing power, these new workers are looking for a better quality of life: a better balance between their professional and personal lives, more flexibility, etc.

Truckrs, an alternative
to traditional recruitment channels
Although they are offering the market a new recruitment platform, Truckrs does not aim to reinvent the temping business. Truckrs sees its value in a marketplace for exchanges between hauliers offering assignments of varying lengths and qualified drivers wishing to organise their professional schedules. The concept is very clear: to bring together the players in this market on the same platform in order to reconcile supply and demand and stimulate meetings.
By developing their matchmaking platform, Truckrs is providing an answer to the labour shortage faced by hauliers but also to the new requirements of tomorrow's drivers. The digital solution proposed by the start-up allows for a "liberalisation of the profession" as Pierre-Arnaud Destremau, co-founder and CEO of Truckrs, explains. The start-up's objective is in line with the current trend among truck drivers, where "one out of two drivers is ready to become self-employed". To help them take the plunge, Truckrs offers a wide range of dedicated services: health insurance, unemployment insurance, pension provision, and assistance with the administrative and accounting procedures involved in setting up a business.
